Somatics offers practices to help us slow down and notice our experience, increase our capacity to be with discomfort, become conscious of our default conditioning, and develop intentional, values-aligned possibilities for engaging with our life. A politicized somatics acknowledges the personal, social, and historical contexts within which we live, and through which we have been shaped. By starting from contextual, lived realities, and centering embodied wisdom and practice, personal transformation becomes the foundation for liberatory world-building.

What we mean by

Hummingbirds are adaptable creatures that symbolize the connection between earth and sky, the vertical space where dignity resides. As divine messengers and pollinators they pursue and propagate both beauty and sweetness.

These resilient, playful spirits remind us that the pursuit of delight nourishes and renews not just the self, but also our shared worlds.

The Muiscas are a people indigenous to the Andes of Colombia, and Quynza (KEEN-cha) is their word for hummingbird.

Why quynza?

Somatic practice builds authentic connection with our self, our communities, and the lands we inhabit, offering clients a foundation for resilience and meaning.

Liberation

Values

As an accomplished intellectualizer, I spent years trying to change the parts of my life that felt out of alignment through to-do lists, intention setting, and talk therapy. And while these strategies were helpful in some ways, I continued to feel stuck in unhelpful patterns and a painful relationship to my body. Then came somatics.

My somatic practice has offered me a space, a time, and a ritual to continue getting to know myself, to practice deeper listening, and to build and maintain meaningful, deep community. The tools of somatics have also helped me to parent in ways that feel aligned with my values, and to show up in my relationships in more authentic ways. I have more access to delight, and to my grief. And I more deeply trust myself.

It is my pleasure and privilege to share this transformative work with you.
